Sony Pictures has confirmed the official Insidious 6 release date for the next entry in the horror franchise, which will be released on August 29, 2025.
It was initially believed Insidious had ended with the fifth instalment, but Sony Pictures has decided to continue the franchise. This is apart from the upcoming spin-off Thread: An Insidious Tale, which will star Mandy Moore and Kumail Nanjiani, with Jeremy Slater at the helm. The new entry follows 2023’s Insidious: The Red Door, which had franchise star Patrick Wilson at the helm in his directorial debut, grossing $189 million at the worldwide box office.
Launching in 2010, the Insidious franchise from James Wan and Leigh Whannell delves into the theme of hauntings, primarily focusing on the existence of a malevolent realm known as “The Further.” This otherworldly dimension is inhabited by vengeful spirits and demons that seek to infiltrate the world of the living, often resulting in terrifying consequences for those who come across it. In total, the Insidious films have grossed over $730M globally.
