To celebrate Star Wars Day, Disney released a new The Acolyte trailer ahead of the show’s two episode Disney+ debut on June 4.
“An investigation into a shocking crime spree pits a respected Jedi Master (Lee Jung-jae) against a dangerous warrior from his past (Amandla Stenberg),” reads the synopsis. “As more clues emerge, they travel down a dark path where sinister forces reveal all is not what it seems…”
The Acolyte is described as a mystery-thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers that will be set within the final days of the High Republic era.
Star Wars: The Acolyte is written and executive produced by Leslye Headland (Russian Doll), who also serves as the showrunner. Joining Amandla Stenberg Stenberg are Lee Jung-jae (Squid Game), Dafne Keen (His Dark Materials), Rebecca Henderson (Inventing Anna), Dean-Charles Chapman (1917), Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix), Manny Jacinto (The Good Place), Jodie Turner-Smith (After Yang), Charlie Barnett (Russian Doll), and Star Wars sequel trilogy alum Joonas Suotama as a new character in the form of a Wookiee Jedi master.
