Wicked continues to defy gravity in Australia as the film soars to $20M in its second week at the Box Office – clear that pink and green fever has truly captured the imagination of citizens of Oz.
In exciting news that’s sure to delight fans across the country, today Universal Pictures announces long- awaited singalong sessions of Wicked at participating cinemas.
Wicked star Cynthia Erivo has weighed in on the internet discussion on whether audiences can sing along, and has given the official OK – “…We spent this long singing it ourselves…it’s time for everyone else to join in. It’s wonderful”.
Australian cinemas agree as from Boxing Day, audiences will be invited to join in and sing all the classic hits to their hearts’ content, at special singalong sessions.
“Popular”, “Dancing Through Life”, “The Wizard and I” and of course, the famous battle cry smash hit “Defying Gravity” are set to reach new heights during these eagerly anticipated sessions of unified voices.
Globally Wicked continues to smash records having earned over $359M at the global box office in just two weekends, becoming the 13th highest grossing movie of 2024 so far and still sitting at an astonishing 96% Fresh Rotten Tomatoes Audience score, and 89% Fresh Rotten Tomatoes Critics score.
Tickets for singalong sessions will be available from 12th December and the sessions will commence from Boxing Day.
